Bayside, Douglaston-Little Neck Patches to Merge

On Thursday, our readers will have a one-stop site for northeast Queens.

At Patch, our aim is to provide readers with a one-stop site where they can find all of the important information about their communities, including local stories, events and announcements.

On July 26, we will combine our Bayside and Douglaston-Little Neck Patch sites into a go-to information hub for all three communities. Nathan Duke will be the editor for the site.

In terms of visiting Patch, nothing has changed. Simply enter www.douglaston.patch.com or www.bayside.patch.com as you’ve done before and you’ll be connected to the new site.

And, as always, you can find us on Facebook and Twitter.

All of the businesses from both sites will be combined into one extensive directory and business owners will continue to be invited to claim their listings.

The new site will continue to bring complete coverage of all three northeast Queens neighborhoods on everything from elections, the environment and schools to the arts, crime and community news.

We’re excited to be able to provide better coverage for all three communities in one place. As always, we’d love to hear from our readers.

Please let us know if you have story tips or if there’s anything we’re missing on the site by emailing nathan.duke@patch.com. Or, call me at 718-207-1460.

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

Unfortunately, according to the Douglas Manor Association, the fresh fruit and vegetable market willRead More NOT return this year. No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
