DEC Opens Registration for Summer Camps

State agency operating seven week-long sessions beginning in June.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation is now accepting online applications for its annual summer camp, which begins in late June.

This year will be the DEC’s 67th annual summer camp, which operates seven one-week sessions beginning on June 29.

“For more than six decades, DEC’s environmental education summer camps have nurtured New York’s youth to become stewards of our state’s natural resources,” DEC Commissioner Joe Martens said. “Campers explore the outdoors under the guidance of caring camp staff, learning about the natural world and their place in it.”

Campers will also learn about fields, forests, streams and ponds through hands-on activities and exploration as well as conservation techniques, such as measuring trees and estimating wildlife populations.
