“We do a lot of things – puzzles and a lot of arts and crafts,” Moyal said. “But we give the kids a choice of what they want to do. We really try to meet their needs.”

The program, which is licensed by the city’s Department of Health, includes four counselors.

“The staff is quality,” Moyal said. “We have all teachers or people in graduate school and all them are certified. They know first aid and CPR.”

She said the program typically serves 18 children, but that the church can take more if necessary. Students in the class hail from Douglaston, Bayside, Flushing and several other northeast Queens neighborhoods.

The playgroup can accommodate children with handicaps.

But the program does not include a religious component or provide transportation. Snacks and beverages will be served.
