Bayside Historical Society to Host Talk on Flushing History, Two Holiday Events

Group will hold discussion on history of Broadway-Flushing, castle decorating event and a holiday party.

The Bayside Historical Society will host an upcoming discussion on the history of Flushing, an event to decorate the castle at Fort Totten and a holiday party.

On Nov. 15, the society will present “Know Your Neighborhood, Part II,” a discussion with urban planning consultant and Historic District Council adviser Paul Graziano on the history of Broadway-Flushing.

The event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., will cost $5 for non-members, but historical society members will get in for free.

The society will host “Decorate the Castle” on Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will allow participants to decorate Fort Totten’s historic castle for the holidays.

A children’s program, which begins at noon, will allow youngsters to create a colorful, nature-inspired pinecone for a holiday tree.

The society’s annual holiday party will be held at 5 p.m. on Dec. 2. Tickets are $65 for members and $75 for non-members. Those interested in attending should RSVP by Nov. 28. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The party will include food, drinks, dancing and raffles.

The society is also calling for artists to take part in its annual Celebration of the Arts, which will begin on Jan. 13. Registration information is available on the historical society’s website.
