Bayside Historical Society to Host Open Sew

Event will be held at the castle in Fort Totten on Jan. 25.

The Bayside Historical Society will host an open sew event at its headquarters in Fort Totten’s castle this weekend.

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the historical society, which is located in Fort Totten at 208 Totten Ave.

Attendees should bring a complete work or work in progress to share with the group. This could include a quilt, garment of accessory.

One community sewing machine will be available for the event, but sewers who have one should bring their own.

There will also be a pressing station with an iron and ironing board and a cutting station.

Attendees can also cross-stitch, embroider, crochet or knit.

Participants should bring fabrics, craft/sewing books, thread and other supplies of they have them.

Light refreshments will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring snacks.

The event will cost $12 at the door for non-members and $10 for meet-up members. Historical society members will pay $8.
