Bayside Artist Seeks Public's Help in Finding Lost Painting

Painter's husband accidentally left piece in an overhead compartment on the Long Island Rail Road.

A Bayside artist is asking for Long Island Rail Road commuters to help her recover a painting that her husband accidentally left on a train.

Gwen Meyerson said her husband inadvertently left one of her paintings, “Brooklyn Bridge,” in an overhead compartment on the LIRR’s Port Washington line after learning that a childhood friend had died.

He had picked up the 6:24 p.m. train on Aug. 31 at Bayside’s LIRR station.

Meyerson said she has checked with the LIRR’s lost and found and now believes that someone on the train took the painting.

“I am very distraught over the loss of my painting,” she said. “I only ask for its return without question.”
