Alley Pond Environmental Center to Host Halloween Events

Children will be able to sample holiday treats, play games and make crafts.

will offer two Halloween programs for children as well as an animal care training class this week.

On Oct. 28, the center will host Teeny Tiny Trick O’ Treaters for children, ages 18 months to 4 years, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event, which is $10 per child, will include Halloween crafts, games and snacks. Costumes are optional.

Preregistration is required. The center, located at 228-06 Northern Blvd., will also hold a Halloween Delights event from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 29.

The program, which is meant for ages 7 to 12, is part of the center’s young chefs program. Activities will include preparing hot cocoa with floating eyeballs and a Sloppy Joe gobbling sandwich.

Preregistration is required. The event will cost $24 per child, but all materials will be provided.

On Oct. 30, the environmental center will offer an animal care trainee class from 10 a.m. to noon.

Children, ages 8 to 12, will be able to get hands-on experience in feeding, brushing, cleaning and learning about the needs of Alley Pond’s animals.

Attendees will get a snack and an animal care trainee certificate.

Preregistration is required. The cost is $15 for members and $21 for non-members.
