On Monday, One Million Moms for Gun Control will hold a rally that will begin in Brooklyn and end up at City Hall. The event is being held as part of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

Also on Monday, Alley Pond Environmental Center will offer its Wee Sprouts and Toddler Time programs, while the Douglaston Little Neck Library will hold its weekly knitting and crocheting class.

The Bayside Business Association’s annual Taste of Bayside event, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed until the spring.

There will be an AA meeting Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at the Community Church of Douglaston.

The Furman Film Series which chronicles the story of New York’s former mayor, on Thursday.

AmeriCorps’ Pack It Up For Purim will kick off on Friday. The Samuel Field Y is one of the local drop-off sites.

Comedian Rob Schneider will perform at Queensborough Community College on Sunday.

Announcements

Mobile service for the Bayside Library, located at 214-20 Northern Blvd., will begin on Jan. 7. The library will be closed for a few months to allow for a renovation.

As of Jan. 6, the Q36 line on Jamaica Avenue is scheduled to continue along Little Neck Parkway, while the Q30 will be extended to Queensborough Community College on weekdays. And the Q27 will offer overnight service.

State Assemblyman Edward Braunstein, D-Bayside, and former Assemblywoman Ann-Margaret Carrozza have kicked off their annual Valentines for Vets gift drive.
