A beautiful breeze, a sparkling future begins with this special invitation from St. Kevin's Parish.

Brighten your week with a fun day in the park.

Greetings Patch readers. It's my pleasure to invite you to the annual St. Kevin's Parish Picnic sponsored by the CYO Youth Guild.

There will be food, fun, and games for all ages. FREE.

The picnic will be held on Sunday, June 3rd 2012 from 10AM-6PM.

The location is Alley Pond Park, 76th Ave and Springfield Blvd in Oakland Gardens.

Please take your friends, family, and neighbors for a great day in the park.

Don't forget to bring chairs!

The local, fresh fruit and vegetable market was a worthwhile addition to Douglaston. Obviously, itRead More did not receive the support of the community, at least not enough to make it a successful venture. This is sad. Every Sunday, rain or shine, I would stop at the market and purchase something. My favorite was the bakery stand. Often, when I stopped in the afternoon I would get two FREE French breads with my purchase. Parking was never a problem. The vendors where friendly and very informative. It was a perfect setting for the picturesque nature of this community. Too bad it is not returning.

No specific reason was given other than this was at the initiative of the merchants or the market's organizers. And this..., just as we were beginning to enjoy the Long Island wines and the $34 per pound skirt steak, ordered two months in advance.
