Guide to Dining Out on Valentine's Day

Check out Patch's list of five local restaurants that are offering romantic dinners on Feb. 14.

 

Those hoping to find love – and the scents of savory food – in the air this Valentine’s Day need look no further.

Several of northeast Queens’ eateries are offering romantic options for dining out on Feb. 14.

Valentino’s on the Green

201-10 Cross Island Parkway

Visitors will pay $59 per person to dine at this restaurant and catering hall that was once the home of movie star Rudolph Valentino.

Appetizers include several salads – Caprese, apple and pomegranate and pear and gorgonzola – as well as oysters Valentino, filet mignon Carpaccio, Maine lobster bisque, lump crab cake and house smoked salmon.

For entrees, attendees can choose free range chicken, veal Scallopine, braised short ribs, oven roasted yellowtail flounder, homemade Porcini ravioli, crab crusted sea bass or surf and turf.

Desserts include dark and white chocolate mousse dome, caramelized apple tart, Crème Brulee and strawberry opera cake

The Douglaston Manor

63-20 Marathon Parkway

For $42 per person, patrons will be able to choose from several appetizers, including purse of duck confit and truffle scented with olive oil and lavender, Estate Angelotti filled with goat cheese and dressed with wild mushroom and salad.

Entrees include filet mignon, seared Atlantic cod with asparagus and rice and Long Island free range hen pan basted with polenta and charred tomatoes.

Wild berry Torte Framboise is the dessert and a complimentary glass of champagne is given to each guest.

The evening will also include music and dancing. Reservations are required. Call 718-224-8787. Seating begins at 6 p.m.

Il Toscano

42-05 235th St.

This popular Douglaston eatery’s Valentine’s Day menu includes several salads, such as Caesar, arugula and endive, organic field greens and Insalata Toscana.

Several antipasti offerings are also available, including butternut squash bisque, Mozzarella Fresca, jumbo lump crab cake, eggplant and goat  cheese, baked Malapque oysters, Calamari Fritti, antipasto Della Casa, baby clams.

The restaurant will serve five types of pasta and a variety of entrees, including pan seared filet of halibut, roasted rack of lamb, grilled veal T-bone steak, Long Island duckling, shell steak, jumbo shrimp and whole baby chicken with Tuscan sausage, mushrooms, red bliss potatoes and asparagus.

Champagne, wine and Mango Mohitos will be served by the glass.

Giardino

44-37 Douglaston Parkway

Guests will pay $47 per person and receive a complimentary glass of champagne at this Douglaston eatery.

The appetizer menu will include fried calamari, Zuppe di Cozze, baked clams, Rigatoni Filleto di Pomodoro, Penne Alla Vodka and Portobello mushrooms.

For entrees, visitors will be able to choose from Capellini Romeo and Julietta, which includes Maine lobster, as well as shrimp scampi, breast of chicken and jumbo shrimp pan fried with white wine sauce and fried artichoke, Veal Scallopine, lobster ravioli, braised pork shank, Chilean sea bass, chicken Napoletano, shell steak and Atlantic salmon filet baked with zucchini, olives and breadcrumbs.

Bourbon Street

40-02 Bell Blvd.

This Bayside restaurant’s Valentine’s Day specials will include she crab soup and several appetizers, such as lobster cakes, blackened chicken egg rolls, oysters casino, prosciutto and warm goat cheese salad, tomato Caprese and almond crusted Portobello mushrooms.

The main courses will be filet mignon, Portobello parmesan crusted chicken with lemon basil sauce, grilled swordfish, seafood platter, rack of lamb, Cajun seafood pasta and Jack Daniels steak.

The dessert menu will include red velvet cheesecake, Berry Napolean and chocolate mousse crepes.
