Day At Sea Turns Deadly for Baysider
Bayside man, Ivan Vulong, reportedly drowned after being swept out by a current.
A man rescued on Saturday from the currents off Mastic Beach was pronounced dead on Tuseday at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, according to Newsday.
Ivan Vulong, 21, of Bayside, was reportedly injured while fishing with a group of 10 friends on a fishing trip.
Sunbathers and onlookers alerted authorities that two men were apparently drowning at around 3:40 p.m on Saturday.

Volunteers struggled to swim 150 yards off the dangerous shoreline, initially rescuing Gordon Sung of Rego Park, one of the two swimmers who found themselves in the water.
Vulong would later be brought to safety by rescuers of the Mastic Beach Fire Department.

John Sumwalt, a Shirley-based detective who was assigned to investigate the matter said that the tide and unpredictable nature of the shoreline could have been a factor in the incident.
On the particular stretch of beach where the two young men were found there are no lifeguards, officials said.
