Audit of Tax Collectors Soon To Be Released

The results of an investigation into the purported glitch that caused higher tax valuations will come out soon, according to Comptroller John Liu.

In a perverse reversal of roles, the people who collect your taxes are being audited.

An investigation of the NYC Dept. of Finance will shortly be released, whose office is conducting the audit, at last night's Community Board 11 meeting.

An investigation was demanded by Northeast Queens activists after many co-op and condo owners in the area increase by as much as 147 percent.

DOF Commissioner David Frankel hearing last year that the increases were caused by a , including a software glitch that compared homes to commercial properties to establish value.

“Keep an eye out for those results,” Liu said of the audit. “They won’t be pleasant, but they will be shocking.”
